إنما الدنيا طباع ركّزت
verily this dunya(worldly life) has a fixed nature
شأننا فيها سرور أو كدر
our situation in it is between happiness and sadness
لا يغرنك إذا الحظ ارتقى
do not be fooled if your luck was on the rise
واحذرن يوما يعاديك القدر
and be careful of a day when your fate goes against you
شأنها الخفض لمن كان اعتلى
its norm is to debase the one who has risen (in it)
وارتفاعات لمن فيها افتقر
and to raise the one who has been debased
فاتخذ منها سبيلا صالحا
so take in it a righteous path
في حياة تتقي منها الضرر
and live you life avoiding its harm
أيها الطامع فيها باغيا
O you who is greedy for it (the dunya) looking for
دار خلد..حسبك الآن العبر
a haven of immortality.. enough (should be) for you the lessons now
اذكر الماضين وانظر.. ماترى؟
remember the past generations and look..what do you see?
كل يوم من مواراة الحفر
everyday holes(graves) being dug and covered
كلنا نسعى لنحيا.. آملين
we are all toiling to live..full of hope
بعده ماذا؟.. ففكر يا بشر
then what? ..think O human being
ما خلقنا في الدنى نبقى خلود
we were not created in this world to remain immortal
بل خلقنا لفناء مستقر
rather we were created to perish then go to the immortal life
فاتّعظ فيمن مضى ثم اّدكر
so take lessons from the past then remember
واسمع النصح فقد جاء الخبر
and heed the advice because the truth has arrived (to you)
كلنا فانٍ ولا يبقى سوى
we are all going to perish and nothing will remain..except
وجه ربٍ قد تعالى وانتصر
the face of the Lord who is most exalted and always victorious
